项目摘要

(1) In the general case where there are more than one reactor and there are at least one near and one far detectors, sensitivity to sin^2 2θ_<13> was discussed analytically with a rate analysis only. As long as there are one near and one far detectors, the uncertainty due to existence of multiple reactors turns out to be irrelevant. Furthermore, the dependence of sensitivity on the locations of the near and far detectors was discussed numerically by giving the contour plot in the case of the KASKA project. (2) The above analysis was generalized to the case with a spectrum analysis, and it was concluded that even with a spectrum analysis it would be difficult to improve the sensitivity significantly unless the bin-to-bin uncorrelated systematic error becomes very small. (3) It has been known from the results of our research that the sensitivity to θ_<13> is almost determined by the uncorrelated systematic errors and experimental precision is bounded by these factors. To overcome this problem, a new idea was proposed to put multiple detectors at one site. (4) By introducing a new plot in the (sin^2 2θ_<13>, 1/s^223) plane, it was discussed what kind of further experiments would be needed to solve parameter degeneracy after neutrino and anti-neutrino measurements are done at the oscillation maximum at the T2K experiment (from Tokai to Kamioka). (5) It was pointed out that testing deviation from the standard matter effect by long baseline experiments with the baseline more than 1000km would be effective to search for new physics and that it would be possible to obtain signature of new physics at the present and future long baseline experiments. In the process of this discussion, the formalism by Kimura et al.to get the oscillation probabilities was generalized to the case with new physics, and the analytic formula for the oscillation probability was obtained in a nice way.
