To clarify the scoring resistance of biodegradable synthesis lubricating oil made of fatty acid ester, a gear test was carried out using a power- circulating gear machine and a two-roller test was carried out using an Amsler machine. Further, the scoring resistance of the synthesis ester oil was compared with that of vegetable oils. From the test, following results were obtained.(1)In the two-roller test, the seizure resistance of the synthesis ester oil without additives was about 1.5 times as large as that of turbine oil without additives.(2)In the two-roller test, the coefficient of friction of the turbine oil without additives was between 0.06 and 0.08. On the other hand, the coefficient of friction of the synthesis ester oil was between 0.04 and 0.07.(3)In the gear test, the scoring resistance of the synthesis ester oil without additives was about 2.3 times as large as that of the turbine oil without additives.(4)In the gear test, the critical surface temperature for scoring of the synthesis ester oil was approximately 200℃ higher than that of the turbine oil without additives, and it was about 400〜440℃.(5)In the gear test, the sound pressure level, the acceleration due to vibration of gear box and loss torqe in case of the synthesis ester oil without additives were lower than those of the synthesis ester oil with additives.(6)The effects of oxidation inhibitor and anti-wear additive on the scoring resistance and the seizure resistance of the synthesis ester oil were not recognized.(7)The scoring resistance of rapeseed oil without additives was about 1.7 times as large as that of the turbine oil without additives. On the other hand, the scoring resistance of the synthesis ester oil without additives was about 2.3 times as large as that of the turbine oil without additives.
