项目摘要

The 2004 research purpose was to clarify the meaning of independence in the elderly living alone in rural community. The subjects were 16 elders living alone and 10 professions in a rural area. The method was micro-ethnography. As a result, two meanings of independence in the elderly living alone in the rural community ; <maintaining of own dignity> and, <living together the culture of rural community> were detected. And moreover, the former includes "The self decision-making", "The self-help effort to maintain the living alone", and "The vitality enough for living alone", and the latter includes "Dignity to the rural community culture" and "Adaptation to the rural natural environment". It is necessary for health promotion of elders living alone in the rural community to understand their cultural meanings.The 2005 research purpose was to investigate prevalence of depressive state and clarify the related factors among the elderly living alone in urban community. The subjects were 250 elders living alone in Tokyo. The method was the mail survey with unsigned and self-writing questionnaires. The contents of the questionnaires were demographic data, depressive state (GDS-15), The Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Gerontology index of competence, social networks, number of the health medical welfare service, outing frequency, and so on. As a result, the prevalence of depressive state was 43.6%, and a period of living alone, a degree of long-term care need, and social networks were significantly related to the depressive state. It is necessary for the elderly living alone in urban area to support their mental health and social networks.

2004年的研究目的是阐明农村社区独居老人独立的含义。研究对象为16名独居老人和10名农村职业老人。研究方法是微观民族志。结果发现，独居在农村社区的老年人具有独立、维护自身尊严和共同生活在农村社区文化中的两层含义。前者包括“自主性”、“自力更生”和“足以独居的生命力”，后者包括“对农村社区文化的尊严”和“对农村自然环境的适应”。了解农村社区独居老年人的文化内涵是促进其健康的必要手段。2005年的研究目的是调查城市社区独居老年人抑郁状态的患病率，明确其相关因素。研究对象是250名独居在东京的老人。研究方法为邮寄调查，不签名问卷和自填式问卷。问卷内容包括人口学资料、抑郁状态(GDS-15)、东京都老年研究所能力指数、社会网络、健康医疗福利服务数量、出游频率等。结果显示，抑郁状态的患病率为43.6%，独居时间、长期护理需求程度、社会网络与抑郁状态显著相关。城市独居老人的心理健康和社会网络的支持是必要的。
