项目摘要

1.農地に関するデ-タ・ベ-スは昨年1883年〜1980年の期間について集計・調整したものを、1883年〜1989年に延長・整備することができた。このデ-タ・ベ-スは本研究以外に、将来の農地政策にも貢献できよう。2.約100年間における農地の変動量、変動プロセス、農地分布の変遷過程等について整序し、その成果を本重点領域シンポジュウム(1992.2.29〜3.1、於愛知大学他)において報告した。また、近年の日本の農地の減少とりわけ水田の減少に関して、国土への位置付けについて再考する(対策を講ずる)ための考え方について、本研究の視点に即した試見を報告した(日中地理学シンポジュウム、於お茶の水女子大学、1991.10.26)。3.農地の地域分化の地理学的な意義として、第1に西南日本の比較的温暖な地域から東北日本の寒冷な地域への農地の移動をもたらしたこと、第2に農地が従来の山に上る方向から山を降りる方向を顕著にする一方、新しい開発地域での拡大によって、日本の農地分布はより低平地中心のものになってきたこと、を明らかにするとともに、その背景と要因に関しても予察的な知見を示した(埼玉大学紀要Vol.39,1991.10)。4.各都道府県の農地の変動傾向は大きく7つに類型化できることを確認した。また、これらの諸類型と農地の変動量を組み合わせてみた結果、近代化が日本の農地に及ぼしたプラス、マイナスの影響についての時代的な背景と要因をいくつかの事例(都道府県)に即して説明することが有効であることが判明した。今後は農地の量的側面の変動の特徴把握がほぼ終了したので、土地改良等による農地の質的側面(特性)の変化に関する部分を補完し、全体としてわが国の近代化過程における農地の存在形態の変貌を時空間の中で系統的に考察するとともに、これを近代化による環境変化の問題としてもとらえ直す作業を進めていく予定である。
