知識システム群の協調メカニズムに関する以下の研究を行なった.(1)協調メカニズムの定式化:ここでは,分散的な環境におかれ,単独では解決し得ない目標を与えられた知識システムの集団がそれらを協調的に解決するためのメカニズムを確立することを目指して,知識システムの各々が,他の知識システムとの間で局所的に発生する目標間の衝突を,過去の類似した事例に基づき,分散的かつ協調的に解消するための協調メカニズムを提案すると共に,同一の環境上で作業を行なう知能ロボット群が主として局所的に展開する協調的な問題解決を例にとり,その有効性を確認した.(2)協調プロトコルの定式化:中枢的な知識システムを仮定せずに,あるいはそれらに過剰に依存せずに,知識システムを合目的に活動させるためには,知識システム群の間に適切なプロトコル(協調プロトコル)を設定する必要がある.ここでは,知識システムの間の契約交渉のための種々の協調プロトコルを設計すると共に,知識システムの各々が,他との契約交渉を通して,それ自身が有する知識および他の知識システムに関する信頼度を学習することによって,以降の契約交渉をより効果的なものとするための学習メカニズムを設計し,計算機シミュレ-ションによりそれらの有効性を確認した.(3)自己組織化メカニズムの定式化:知識システム群が協調プロトコルを再構成していくプロセスは,知識システム群の自己組織化の1つと考えられる.ここでは,上記の協調メカニズムによって知識システム群に協調プロトコルを再構成させることを試みている.協調プロトコルに関する上記の研究も,知識システム群に契約交渉プロセスの種々のパラメ-タをチュ-ニングさせることを目指したものであり,協調プロトコルの再構成に関連する研究の一部である.
