本研究では、ライフサイクルエネルギー(以下、LCE)を算定しその結果を消費者個人に提供して環境に配慮した行動を誘導しライフスタイル変更を支援するシステムの開発を目的としており、本年度は、特にLCE算定の枠組みと行動の変更がもたらすLCE削減の評価とその行動の分類に重点をおいた。まず、財のLCEの基本算定の枠組みと素材生産から廃棄までのライフサイクルを設定し、各過程において原単位積み上げ型の算定式に基づいてエネルギー消費量を算定、1年間単位に換算した年間LCEを求めた。算定の枠組みとしては、原単位の変動が大きなものや各種統計資料に基づく原単位値には財別ではなく業種全体の評価値であるなどの問題や、廃棄処理段階では直接エネルギーのみの評価にとどまり間接エネルギーに加えて最終処分地の空間損失の評価が含まれていないなどのいくつかの課題が残された。行動の工夫の評価としては、まず行動を消費・使用段階の時間軸上に分類し、その工夫の反映を投入素材エネルギーの削減、使用期間延長、直接使用エネルギー削減等の面でLCE算定に反映させた。特に、使用段階での行動の工夫に幅のある家電製品をとりあげ、その工夫による年間LCE増減量・増減率を評価した。その結果、使用時間の直接的な削減の効果は年間LCEに占める使用エネルギーの比率が高いことを反映して高く、使用年数の延長の効果は非常に小さい。そのほかに、機器設置段階での工夫から使用段階での機能設定などの工夫や無駄についての年間LCE削減効果を試算した。支援システムへの発展は、行動の主体別、対象財別といった分類にもとづいた動的な提示メニューの設計、主観的、客観的指標で序列づけられる構造、さらに、ライフスタイル総体を評価するための省資源やリサイクルの反映を行動の中心とするような消耗財を加えたLCE算定を次年度以降システムの構築作業の中で組み込んでいく。
