项目摘要

オーストラリア・アボリジニの絵画は、展覧会、画集など介して非アボリジニ社会に流通するが、そこで取り上げられるモチーフや描法は、非アボリジニ社会の「対アボリジニ観」の反映である。それがまたアボリジニ社会へフィードバックされ、絵画に変容を引き起こしている。この相互作用を明らかにするために、オーストラリアの展覧会、図録、論文、画集などに掲載されている絵画のデータベースを作成する。以上の目的に沿って、まず民博所蔵の画集96冊に対するデータ入力およびフォトCD化を行った。各画集に掲載されている絵画に対して、作者名、その出身地域、所属クラン名、絵画のタイトル、モチーフ、所有者、メディア(画材および絵の具)、およびコメント、から成るデータを逐一作成した。総データ件数は約6000に達した。現在は、データ重複チェックを行っている。この作業の終了次第、結果を編集・分解し、(a)制作者データベース:絵画の制作者に関わる属性情報(名前、生年、地域、所属クラン、そのクラン固有の神話と精霊)(b)固有情報データベース:絵画固有の造成属性(モチーフ、描法、描かれている動植物等)、(c)引用情報データベース:絵画固有の属性情報(展覧会名、原所蔵機関または所有者、画集や論文名、図録や論文の編著者とそのバックグラウンド、絵画タイトル)、の3本研究の最終目的は、アボリジニ文化に対するイメージの相互作用の解明である。そのためには、上記の3データベースを完成し、それを検索・分析できる環境を整える必要がある。現段階は、そのデータベースを作成するための前段階がようやく出来上がったに過ぎない。当初の予定よりも研究の進捗状況は遅れてはいるものの、今後は、目標とするデータベースの完成を急ぐとともに、イギリスやアメリカ、カナダなど英語圏についても資料収集を拡大して、各国における対先住民意識の差異に関しても分析を深めたい。
