项目摘要

本計画研究(平成13・14年度)が目指した成果は、チベットへの仏教前期伝播期におけるサンスクリット原典からの翻訳文献(特に、経典と論書)から知り得る、個々のテキストの翻訳者/翻訳グループによる翻訳技術・翻訳用語の特性を個別的に明らかにすることにあった。平成11年秋、高野山大学所蔵デルゲ版チベット大蔵経の完全デジタル資料が完成し、世界で初めて、チベット大蔵経の一つの版全体がPC上の研究分析対象資料として活用できるようになったこと、当該大蔵経収蔵テキストのサンスクリット原典が現存し、校訂テキスト並びに写本のマイクロフィシュ版が公開されていること、などを前提として、ヴァスバンドゥ(世親)に帰せられるチベット翻訳文献群をすべて整理し検討を加えた。世親の諸著作を取り上げたのは、彼が西暦400年頃の聖典伝承を取り上げ、仏教史上初めて、その聖典の用語/表現を解釈(vyakhya)するための軌範(yukti)を提起して、仏教学匠としては、言わばインド古典文献として残る最古の古典解釈学を今に伝えているからである。その作業・吟味の結果、サンスクリット翻訳文献群としてのチベット大蔵経の研究遂行に資すると思われる今後の留意点として、世親が解釈対象とする経本文の文言は、現存のチベット大蔵経カンギュルともサンスクリット写本とも異なる可能性があること、グループによる翻訳手順として、本文翻訳に先行してその注釈書が翻訳されたという作業過程が確認でき、必ずしも本文作者の著述意図通りには翻訳されていない可能性があること、などを明らかにし得た。なお、デルゲ版CD-ROMの画像情報と、The Asian Classics Input Projectで入力されている文字情報とをリンクさせ、語彙検索がPC上で可能となるような試作ソフトを、宮崎泉(京都大学文学部非常勤講師)氏の協力を得て開発することができた。この宮崎ソフトの活用とその公開に向けて、今後とも研究を継続する予定である。
