项目摘要

幕末期の地方藩校における技術伝習の状況について,特に高炉による我が国初の鉄の本格的出銑に成功した盛岡藩大島高任を中心として平成14〜16年度にかけて器物,文書資料の所在調査を行った結果をデータベース化し,ネット上で公開を開始した.さらに,電子的に関連資料の抽出分析を行なうシステムを構築し,技術者間の結びつきの解析も可能な試作データベースシステムを公開した.http://edo.mech.iwate-u.ac.jp/また,これまで抽出した器物,文献資料に関わる人的ネットワークの調査,そして,そのネットワークに関するデータベース化と大島に関係した技術者・科学者に関する現地資料のデータ収集を実施し,他の研究では行われていなかった大島高任という人物に焦点を当てた逆方向からのアプローチによって,大島がそのネットワークから得たものを明らかにするため,大島の技術の向上に果たした他の技術者との情報交換に関する調査を行ない,その系譜をとりまとめた.以上の結果をふまえて,平成17年10月末から18年1月末に掛けてののべ9週間ほど,釜石市立鉄の歴史館,盛岡市中央公民館郷土資料展示室および八戸市博物館において,巡回企画展「南部の科学・技術」を主催開催し,研究成果の一般への普及啓発活動を行った.この期間の入場者数はのべ約2500人であった.また,遺物の一つである指字電信機の復元を提案し,岩手県立盛岡工業高校の電子情報科の課題研究として4人の生徒と共に作業を実施した.この作品は,岩手県工業高校工業クラブ発表会において奨励賞を受賞した.
