The system to be procured is a tape laying machine that is to produce fabrics and preforms with the help of two-dimensional tows and tapes. As with the UD Production Unit applied for (application: Production Unit), due to the planned production of components from mixed construction methods, a high degree of flexibility through the further processing of different materials is sought. The processing of carbon, glass, basalt, aramid and natural fibers is necessary both as dry and as impregnated semi-finished products. The laying head should enable flexible, 360 ° placement of the tapes in order to be able to easily produce preforms with different designs and to modify the layer structure and fiber orientation angle. Furthermore, the placement of several layers on top of each other should be guaranteed. The tape hoist has a usable table area that is 0.5 m wide and 1 m long. The laying frame is covered with a fabric that is integrated during further processing or removed beforehand. This offers another possibility to test hybrid materials and new material combinations. The system should produce preforms with little programming effort and a short learning phase. Thus, students should also be given the opportunity within research projects, after a short learning phase, to independently generate machine programs and operate the system. Due to this, an operation without complex robot programming is necessary. With the commissioning of the MRM building in cooperation with the University of Augsburg in January 2021, new projects of the research group HSA_comp are planned. The research group deals with the entire process chain for fiber composite and hybrid structures. In addition to the competence centers design, calculation, processing and sustainability, the competence of the university in the field of composites was expanded in 2020 with the affiliated institute for textile technology Augsburg. In the further course of this, new funding applications are to be submitted for projects that deal with materials research, especially in the area of hybrid construction. The degree of lightweight construction of structures can be further increased through the appropriate combinations of materials. In addition to classic aerospace and automotive structures, the areas of application are also planned in classic mechanical engineering and the leisure industry. Especially in areas that are dominated by metals, reservations about hybrid components - especially fiber composite structures - still exist. With the requested device, the first components can be produced quickly.Since the applications for the production unit and the tape laying unit are linked and submitted in parallel, there are identical parts in the two applications. These are marked at the beginning of the subsections.
