In this research project, we will investigate the question how collaborative program comprehension in distributed teams in the context of software maintenance and evolution can be better supported by using modern software visualization technology. We will integrate different types of devices such as normal desktop hardware (computer, keyboard, and mouse) and tablets as well as advanced hardware for virtual (VR) and augmented (AR) reality such that a uniform, useful, and accurate visualization of their software will be provided to the members of a distributed development team across spatial distances. Software visualization for groups instead of just single beholders has not been fully explored yet.
