少ない量のデータから安定したバイオインフォマティクス解析を可能とする手法を情報統計力学に基づき開発した。具体的には、対象データに適切な階層型モデルを導入したベイズ推定法および多数の情報源を統合するための統計的学習法を開発し、遺伝子発現、タンパク質活性、顕微鏡画像など各種生物学データに適用することで、本分野の研究の進展に寄与した。
