本年度の本総括班活動の概要を4項目に分けて記す。(1)総括班会議を計4回開催し、重点領域研究全体の研究連絡、調整、実績の把握に努めた。特に、11月のヒヤリング用の「研究経過等の概要」の作成、公開シンポジウムの開催に関する案を作成した。(2)合同班会議の開催。3班の計画研究および公募研究班員間の交流を一層推し進める目的で、11月18日〜20日の3日間にわたり合同班会議を主催した。この会議では、約40名の班員が各々20分程度の講演を行なった。(3)公開シンポジウムの開催。2月8日、9日の両日、「遺伝子はどのように進化するか」と題して、昨年に続き第2回の公開シンポジウムを主催した。本年度は各講演に十分な時間を取り、より深い討論が出来るようにした。このシンポジウムには約130名の参加者があった。特に若い研究者の参加が多く、研究成果の公開の他、啓蒙にも役立ったと思われる。(4)国際交流。総括班の班員が関係した国際交流は特筆できる。第1に8月下旬トロントで行われた国際遺伝学会には、木村を始め、太田、高畑が参加し発表講演を行なった。また11月28日には、木村が第4回国際生物学賞を受賞し、それを記念して開催されたシンポジウムには総括班の多くの者が講演した。このシンポジウムには9名の外国人参加者があり、より親密な国際交流を計る上で極めて貴重な機会を得た。昨年高畑が編纂した木村の論文集は諸外国の関係者から大いに反響があったことを付記したい。この論文集は、ウィスコンシン大学のクロー教授、コーネル大学のプロバイン教授の協力で、新しくシカゴ大学出版から発行される予定であり、分子進化、集団遺伝学の研究に大いに役立つことが期待されている。来年は計画研究の最終年度にあたるので、本重点領域の中心課題である集団遺伝学の飛躍的発展を計る予定である。

The summary of this year's class activities is divided into 4 items. (1)Overall class meetings are scheduled for 4 sessions, key areas are studied, and overall research contacts, adjustments, and performance control are made. In particular, the preparation of the "Summary of Research Process" for the launch of the project in November and the preparation of the project related to the launch of the project (2)The contract class meeting was opened. The third class of project research is held in the public offering research class. The communication between the class members is promoted to the next level. The contract class meeting is held during the day from November 18 to 20. About 40 members of the class gave speeches at 20 minutes each. (3)Open the door and open it. On February 8 and 9, the theme of "The Evolution of the Legacy" was promoted. The theme of the second round of the publication was promoted last year. This year's lectures were held at ten minutes 'notice and discussed in depth. About 130 participants attended the event. Special attention should be paid to the participation of researchers, the publication of research results, and the establishment of enlightenment. (4)International exchanges. The relationship between the class members and the international exchanges is special. The first month of August, the International Heritage Society, Kimura, Ota, Takahata participated in the presentation. On November 28th, Kimura was awarded the 4th International Biological Award, and the opening ceremony was held. 9 foreign participants were invited to participate in the event. In the past year, Kimura's collection of papers has been compiled. This collection of papers includes the cooperation of professors from universities, the publication of new university publications, molecular evolution, and the study of group genetics. In the coming year, the final year of research is planned, and the central topic of this focus area is planned for the development of collective genetic research.
