项目摘要

当評価作業班の主要な作業は、研究組織全体の作業の進行度のモニターならびに助言と、その作業の前提としての、世界におけるイスラーム都市研究の成果の蒐集および分析の二つである。モニターならびに助言に関しては、研究代表者・協力者とも、できる限り多くの各班の研究会に出席して、それぞれモニターと助言に努めた。助言は原則として、出席した各研究会において口頭で行ったのであるが、発表された個々の研究のいくつかについて適切な助言をなしえたと信じる。研究組織全体にとって最も役立ったと考えられる助言は、あらかじめ各班の研究計画、問題意識を聞き、類似または関連の問題を扱う研究会について、二つ以上の班の合同研究会とすることを勧告したことである。その結果は各班の問題意識を深めることに貢献し、出張旅費の節約にもなった。来年度以降もこの方法を進めたいが、そのためには各班が年度当初、早くから研究会開催の計画を立てることが望まれる。世界におけるイスラーム都市研究の成果の蒐集と分析に関しては、専門図書と学術雑誌掲載の研究論文のコピーの入手に努めた。今年度は設備備品費の多くをパソコン関連機材に割かねばならなかったが、円高メリットもあって年度当初の計画を上回り、洋書66冊と約300点の雑誌論文のコピーを入手できた。これ等を通じて知りえた最近の海外における研究動向、問題意識の若干は、出席した研究会の席上紹介した。論文のコピーは仮製本したあと、コンピューターに入力して執筆者名のほか、時代・地域・主題(たとえば16世紀・シリア・ダマスクス・民衆運動・ワクフ)で検索できるようにした。当重点領域研究終了後、他の若干の班の同様な作業の結果と合体させることにより、これはきわめて有用なビブリオグラフィーとなるであろう。次年度はこの作業を重点的に進める。
