Cross-sectional and prospective relationships of apoA-I and apoB100 with subclinical atherosclerosis

We have fully completed our study on serum measurements of apoA1 and apoB and subclinical atherosclerosis. We have found that both apoA1 and apoB have significant relationships with carotid intima-media thickness, a marker of subclinical atherosclerosis. These relationships, however, are dependent on their lipid counterparts: HDL-P and LDL-P.In our longitudinal analyses, we could not find any significant relationship between the changes in apoprotein levels and evidence of clinical improvements in coronary subclinical atherosclerosis. Neither apoA1, nor apoB was significantly related to changes in total agatston score.We are currently in the manuscript write-up stage of this study. We hope to soon submit to International SCI journals, such as Atherosclerosis, ATVB and Heart.
