高分解能散乱ラムダハイパー核分光システム(HKS-HES)を製作し米国ジェファーソン国立研究所(JLab)に設置して500 keV(FWHM)以下の最高質量分解能を実現し、電子ビームによる高質分光研究に初めて成功した。その結果、拡張された核力で束縛されたラムダハイパー核の構造に関する研究および原子核中に存在するストレンジ・クォークの物理の新時代を創出するとともに、ラムダ粒子・核子相互作用における荷電対称性の破れのテストにも大きな成果が得られた。
