本研究の目的は、国内武力紛争（内戦）下の反政府武装勢力（反乱軍）による市民経済の管理・統制のメカニズムとその影響を理論的、実証的に明らかにすることにある。ここでは、内戦のプロセスに関する先駆的な研究が行われている欧米の学界でも看過されてきた反乱軍経済やその影響について、定量的な分析を可能にするデータセットの構築と現地調査を含む事例研究を通して考察する。内戦下の反乱軍は、なぜ、またどのように市民経済に関与するのか、またそうした経済政策や市民経済との関係は紛争の動態や市民の意識や政治社会行動にいかなる影響を及ぼすのかという問いに多角的にアプローチすることで、反乱軍経済だけでなくその領域統治メカニズムの解明に貢献することを目指している。当該年度には、上記の目的のための研究活動を行った。第一に、データセットに関するコードブックを完成させ、コーディング作業を進めた。具体的には、1945年以降の世界各国における内戦事例と反乱軍組織を対象に、彼らの経済政策の経年変化を捉えるデータセットを構築することを目的に、UCDP（Uppsala Conflict Data Program）紛争データに収録されている反乱軍を抽出し、それらに関する情報収集とコーディングを進めた。第二に、本研究の事例研究の対象であるコートジボワールにおけるフィールド調査の設計に資する情報収集とその計画書を作成した。その過程では、海外の共同研究者との連絡・調整を緊密に行った。
