今年度は、既往報告資料を対象にデータの構築および分析を進めた。とくに、エリート主導の生産体制が想定されている、石灰質胎土土器の出現と展開に主眼をおいた。はじめに、ナカダII期からIII期にかけての器種組成と数量、および彩文モチーフを分析して、地域性と時期変遷を把握した。そして地域統合の文脈で考察を行い、エリートによる広域流通網の掌握と、副葬品の画一化が背景にあると示唆した。つづいて、文字成立以前のメディアである彩文土器に着目し、意思伝達可能な範囲としての地域性の把握を試みた。まず、石灰質胎土土器の出現以前、ナカダI期における彩文土器のデータを集成した。先行研究では、描かれた場面の地域性を検討する定性的な手法が主であり、幾何学モチーフが描かれた個体は議論の対象になってこなかった。その解決策として割付単位による文様の分析をおこない、器形変化とあわせて時期変遷を提示した。さらに、ナカダII-III期の彩文土器について、一個体におけるモチーフの共伴関係のデータを集成した。先行研究では、隣接するモチーフのかたまりをヒエログリフに翻訳するなど、意味解釈が中心だった。そこで本研究では、ネットワーク分析を適用し、有意なモチーフ間の関係を客観的に抽出することを検討した。今後、実施済みのナカダI期の分析と合わせて、地域性の消長を追究していく。また、イランなど他地域の彩文土器との比較を進める予定である。エジプト資料での資料調査は実施できなかったが、早稲田大学會津八一記念博物館にて、先王朝時代を代表する土器の一つである、黒頂土器とされる資料の実測、写真撮影、SfMを実施した。既往研究を参照しながら、消去法で資料の位置付けを行い、器形・把手・胎土の属性に着目してキプロス産であると結論づけた。あわせて先王朝時代の黒頂土器研究史をまとめ、数量と器形を連動させた時期変遷を提示した。
