本年度の研究では、調整型セルフ・コントロール(調整型SC)と改良型セルフ・コントロール(改良型SC)を実行する際に各個人が示す結果予期の方向性について検討した。調整型SCとは、短期的な状況で発生したストレス事態に対処し、情動的・認知的な妨害要因の影響を低減するためのコントロールである。一方、改良型SCは、自発的な問題設定をもとに、目標志向的な行動が実行された結果、比較的長期にわたり、基準値以上の水準で標的行動を維持するためのものである。被験者は、大学生579名(男子306名、女子271名、記載なし2名;平均年齢19.5歳)であった。Redressive-Reformative Self-Control Scale(杉若,1995)によって、日常場面における調整型SCと改良型SCの実行状況を測定し、被験者の群分けを行った。状況の困難度(2水準)と行動結果の明確さ(2水準)を要因とする4つの状況を設定し、各状況における2つのセルフ・コントロールの実行度と結果予期の方向性を測定した。状況要因の背景場面は、試験の準備期間であった。結果予期の方向性は、各状況で、成功時の報酬あるいは失敗時のダメ-ジのそれぞれをどの程度イメージするかを評定させることによって測定した。結果は以下の通りである。(1)状況の困難度が低い、あるいは行動結果が明確な状況で、成功時の報酬を期待する度合いが強い。(2)状況の困難度が高いほどダメ-ジへの懸念が強い。さらに、改良型SCの得点が低い群の方が、より積極的に失敗時のダメ-ジを想定していない。(3)上記(1)と(2)の結果は、それぞれ調整型SC、改良型SCの実行度得点と対応する。これらの結果から、成功時の報酬に対する期待は調整型SCと、失敗時のダメ-ジの対する懸念は改良型SCと関連することが示唆される。
