手話導入は、聴覚障害教育界の現在の課題の1つであり、教育上の方法論や指導技術が緊急に必要となっている。また教師や親の手話習得も大きな課題となる。本研究では、手話の実態や手話の用法を調べ、教師や親の手話学習方法や、こどもへの手話導入援助の方法を探ることを目的とする。手話用例の収集は進んでいるが、規則化については、VTR分析に莫大な手間と時間を要しており、当初の目標であったデータベース化や、イラストテキスト作成には今後作業の継続を必要とする。しかし、手話の実態や手話学習、親子の手話コミュニケーション形成については、昨年度までに、1)ろう学校3校の基本的な手話語彙の実態を調査し、教師側の予想が必ずしも正確でなく、標準手話の導入を図る必要があること、2)手話単語の短期記憶にを調べ、再生数では、聴覚障害生徒と健聴大学生の間に差はないが、その方略には差があり、健聴成人側の予測や常識は、聴覚障害児・者に必ずしも通用しない可能性がある、などのことがわかった。本年度は、3)健聴の初心学習者の視点から、手話学習過程の検討と成績評価を行い、現存のボランティアや福祉向上を目的とする学習形態は、聴覚障害児、特に幼児に係わる教師や親の緊急のニーズや目的には必ずしも合致せず、そのための学習の場や方法論が必要であること、4)弱視を伴った重度聴覚障害児を持つ家庭を対象に、自然な実際のコミュニケーション状況を重視する立場からコミュニケーション形成支援を行ない、親の手話使用を支援し、整えていった交信環境から、こどもが自ら抽き出して採用する形で、手話を主に伝達が形成され、親との共同作業で言語習得の形に近づけていくことができた。年少期の手話導入にはコミュニケーション環境保証が有効であり、そのための独自の学習形態や素材、さらには実施上の支援が重要であることが確認された。
