项目摘要

本年度は、糸満市の調査継続とともに、読谷村楚辺と沖縄市泡瀬の詳細調査や本土の類似事例の調査を実施した。その調査結果の概要は、以下のとおりである。1. 楚辺地区は、ヒヤリングの結果、伝統的・農村的な「南入一列型」に倣って新しい市街地型の「南入一列型」の宅地を造成したことが明確になった。2. 泡瀬地区は、当初は「本土型」の宅地割であったが、希望者が多いために二本の道路の間に小路(スージグァー)を配置したものであることが判明した。従って泡瀬の宅地割が、「沖縄型」から「本土型」への移行形態ではないか、という仮説は否定された。3. 鹿児島県串木野市に類似事例があり調査したが、形態は酷似していたが成立過程は全く異なることが判明した。4. 広島県尾道市の吉和地区の類似事例の調査も行なったが、造成時期が明治初期のために、成立過程を知る人はすでに居なかったが、今後も調査を続ける予定である。5. しかし、沖縄市泡瀬地区の調査から、新しい興味深い仮説が導かれることとなった。6. それは泡瀬地区は、明治36年に当時の失業士族による家取(ヤードゥイ=失業士族が農業などで生計を立てるために作った小集落)であることが判明したが、沖縄県の市街地型の「南入一列型」の宅地割は、こうした家取の「町型」のものではないか、という仮説であり、この「町型の家取」については、これまで全く究明されていない。7. こうした事例は、那覇市の住吉町や垣花町でも発見されたために、今後とも沖縄県全体と海外事例の調査も含めて究明する予定である。
