2015年度の前半は、昨年の夏から引き続き米国・イェール大学での資料調査および論文執筆をおこなった。とくに、2016年7月には、トロント、ボストン、ニューヨーク、フィラデルフィアなどの資料館でも資料調査をおこなうことができ、アメリカ人医療宣教師に関する史料を収集することができた。2015年度の後半は、アメリカでの在外研究に基づき、洋学史学会津和野大会、日本医史学会例会、新しい学問を考える会、西南学院大学国際文化学会などの学会・研究会で成果を発表した。さらに、長崎市で開催された5th Young Scholar Forum for Medical History in Asiaという国際会議においては、自身の研究に対して、台湾・韓国・ドイツからの参加者より比較史の視座からのコメントを得ることができた。出版物としては、 『洋学』に投稿した論文「幕末・明治初年における３人のアメリカ人医療宣教師について」（採用決定済み、2016年5月刊行予定）があげられる。本論文は、アメリカ人医療宣教師たちが、幕末期にどのように日本で伝道および医療をおこなったかを二つに類型化し、分析したものである。その類型とは、日本人医師たちへの医学教育と貧者への施療である。後者の事例について言えば、日本で生活困窮者への医療福祉制度が確立していなかった時期に、アメリカ本国のミッションから資金を得ており、金銭的に余裕のあった医療宣教師たちが、貧者に対して無料で医療を提供することで、それぞれの地域社会での福祉に貢献していたことがわかった。

In the first half of 2015, the summer of 2015, the data of the university was investigated and the paper was written. In July 2016, we will conduct data surveys in the databases of TRONTON, SCOTON, NAKA, and FRADEL FANA, and collect historical materials related to medical missionaries in Akari. The second half of the year 2015 was held at the Institute of Foreign Studies, the Tsuwano Conference of the Society for the History of Western Studies, the regular meeting of the Japanese Medical History Association, the New School Research Conference, and the International Cultural Society of Southwest University. The 5th Young Scholar Forum for Medical History in Asia was held in Nagasaki City, Japan. Publications and "Foreign Studies" Papers "The end of the Meiji period, the beginning of the Meiji period, the three people and the medical missionaries"(adopted decision, May 2016 issue) This paper analyzes the types of medical missionaries in Japan at the end of the period. The Japanese physician, the medical education and the treatment of the poor. In the latter case, the medical welfare system for the poor in Japan was established during the period of poverty, and the country's financial resources were obtained. The surplus of medical missionaries was provided for the poor, and the contribution of medical services to the well-being of the region was made.
