既存の高齢者の見守りは，安否確認や生活範囲の把握に特化しているものが主体であり，ウェブカメラによるプライバシーの問題，ウェアラブルデバイスを装着しても外してしまうなど，課題も散見されている．また，既存の見守りは，認知機能や身体機能の維持，要介護状態の前段階に着眼しておらず，予防的な観点に乏しいのが現状であり，これらの解決手段としては不十分と考える．先行研究から，認知症や要介護状態に対する予防的な介入として，知的活動，生活習慣，身体活動が挙げられる．しかしながら，独居高齢者は要介護となるリスクが高いにもかかわらず，これらの把握自体が困難となっているのが現状である．そこで，私たちは小型パッチ式デバイスを様々なモノに貼ることで，知的活動，生活習慣，身体活動を数値化して把握することを試みる．さらには，これらの活動量を独居高齢者から離れて暮らす子供世帯へフィードバックする見守りシステムによって，認知症や要介護状態の予防に寄与していく．本研究の目的は，私たちが開発した活動量計測装置，活動量計測方法およびプログラム（特許出願日：2021年1月22日，出願番号：特願2021-9084）を用いて，独居高齢者の知的活動や身体活動が認知機能の維持や向上，認知症や要介護状態のイベント発生を低下させるかを明らかにすることである．本研究にて，高齢者の認知機能の維持や向上，認知症や要介護状態の発生リスク軽減の効果が得られたならば，社会保障費の削減だけでなく，高齢者を親に持つ子供世帯の不安軽減，認知症にならないで健康で永く生活してほしいというペインの解決にも寄与する．第1段階として，小型パッチ式デバイスとシステムのプロトタイプを製作し，性能や安全性の確認をおこなう．第2段階として，開発したプロトタイプを用いて，認知症予防や介護予防に対する有効性の確認をおこなうため，ランダム化比較試験を展開する予定である．
