项目摘要

本研究は、従来の研究で見落とされていたカンボジア漆に対し考古学・漆化学・植生史学・考古科学の視点から多角的に科学的調査・研究をおこない、その特性・生育地・技法などの情報を新たに得ることで基礎資料を構築することを目的とした挑戦的な研究である。本研究においては、核となる研究分野を大きく考古学・漆化学・植生史学・考古科学の4つに分類し、各分野で専門的な知識と経験を有する研究分担者・研究協力者が協働で遺物、現生試料双方の試料を科学的に分析するものである。初年度である2022年度は続くコロナ禍の影響もあり、現地調査はおこなうことができなかった。しかし、国内で現地調査に向けた準備作業と、海外機関との調整をおこなった。考古学の面ではカンボジア現地において、アンコール・ワット最上層の釈迦如来立像の漆片について採取・分析の許可を得た。当該仏像は、アンコール・ワットがヒンドゥー寺院から上座部仏教寺院に改変された際に、主尊として16世紀に造像されたとされ、現在に至るまでアンコール・ワットの最上層の中央において人々の信仰を集めている。今回、現地文化財組織によって、部分的に修復されることとなり、その際に試料を採取することを許可されたものである。また、本研究を遂行するのに必要な参考文献ならびにデータ処理のためのソフトウェアの整備をおこなった。また漆化学の面では、現地調査ならびに分析作業に向けた記録用備品の整備をおこなった。
