项目摘要

当初の計画では、2022年度に入ってすぐに台湾での長期調査を実施することになっていたが、新型コロナウイルスの感染状況が落ち着かなかったために、長期調査の開始を同年度の1月まで後ろ倒しすることとなった。日本国内では、研究対象の1つであるインドネシア帰僑協会が発行する雑誌『印尼僑声』のうち、インターネット上で収集が可能な号を収集し、掲載記事をリスト化した。これにより、限定的ではあるが、同協会の活動の動向を可視化することが可能となった。また、長期調査に先立ち、11月から12月にかけて1ヶ月間の事前調査を実施した。台湾本島に位置する台北市・新北市のほか、かつて東南アジアに渡る華僑の送り出し地であった金門島で聞き取り調査と資料収集を実施した。インドネシア帰僑協会や各地のインドネシア商店での帰僑を対象とした聞き取り調査からは、雑誌『印尼僑声』の分析だけからでは汲み取ることができない帰僑の複雑なアイデンティティの一端を記録することができた。そして、2023年1月から台湾での長期調査を開始した。まず、インドネシア帰僑協会が所蔵する『印尼僑声』全巻をもとに掲載記事の一覧表を作成する作業に着手した。1960年代から発行されている同誌に掲載された記事を一覧することで、台湾に移動した帰僑たちがいかに外部に自己を表象してきたのかを明らかにすることが可能となる。この一方でインドネシア商店での参与観察も実施し、その顧客であり非華人の移民労働者やホスト社会の台湾人が帰僑や同商店といかなる関係を構築しているかを観察した。そのほか、インドネシア出身の移民に関わるさまざまな団体・個人と知り合い意見交換を行ったほか、今後の調査における協力関係を構築した。
