昨年度における上記課題に関する文献資料収集と整備及び毎月一回の研究会開催などの研究活動をふまえて、今年度はそうした成果を報告書にまとめる作業に専念した。その結果、以下の5論文が報告書に収められた。その他の研究協力者たちの研究成果は、本研究の成果のとりまとめの時期と海外長期研修や国内長期研修の時期が重なるなどの諸般の事情により、残念ながら本報告書には収録できなかった。その点では不十分な成果報告書ではあるが、研究協力者たちの研究成果もまもなく別の形で発表される予定であるので、一応の区切りとしてとりあえず本報告書の形にまとめることにした。序論の島袋論文(「沖縄の国際交流について」)は、沖縄の国際交流の歴史において概観すると共に、本報告書の性格について述べている。次の西里論文(「前近代における琉球の対外関係と自己意識・国際意識」)は、今日の沖縄人のアイデンティティのあり方を考える上でも重要な意味をもってくる前近代の琉球史と関連しつつ解明している。都築論文(「沖縄の風水試論」)は、今日の沖縄文化にもその名残りを見ることのできる中国(福州)由来の風水思想に焦点をあてて、東アジア文化圏における沖縄の位置づけという我々が抱えている大きな理論的課題の一端に実証的な解明の光を当てている。江上論文(「沖縄から見た国際交流」)と波平論文(「アジアにおける近代化と社会発展」)では、沖縄の国際交流の現状分析を今後のあり方の展望に重点がおかれている。江上論文では、沖縄の国際交流の歴史と現状について包括的な概観がなされると共に、今後、交流を進めていく上での幾つかの重要な提言を試みている。最後の波平論文は、アセアンを中心としてアジア太平洋時代に目を向け、国際社会の視角から沖縄の国際交流の意義と役割について考察している。なお本報告書は印刷所の都合で4月下旬に仕上がる予定である。
