Fluoride glasses and other halide glasses have attracted much attention because of infrared optical materials. In the present study, the electrical conductivities of some fluoride glasses based on <ZrF_4> - <BaF_2> and <AlF_3> - <BaF_2> systems were measured and conduction mechanisms were discussed. The conductivities were measured using the micro picoammeter and LCR meter. The electrical carriers in halide glasses are halogen anions, being contrast to oxide glasses in which electrical carriers are monovalent cations. The electrical conductivitiy of each fluoride glass was found to increase with temperature, obeying the Arrhenius equation with constant activation energies for conduction. It was found that the electrical conductivity hardly changes with composition so far as the network forming componenets are same, but changes extraordinarily with network forming components. The electrical conductivities of <BeF_2> -CsF glasses reported by Baldwin et al are much lower than those of the present glasses. The concentration of <F^-> ions is almost same for all these glasses. It was concluded that only non-bridging fluorine anion can move under electrical field and act as electrical carrier, but bridging fluorine anion can not be electrical carrier.
