1.文献及び資料の收集と調査をほぼ計画通り行った。2.アタナシオスの基本的著作の研究は、Contra Gentesを中心とし、さらにOratio contra Arianosの一部に及んだ。その成果を要約すれば、(1)Contra Gentesという最初期の著作において、悪の問題を「想像」から説明しようとするきわめて特異な考え方を示していることが判明した。これは悪を存在論的な「無」と結びつけると同時に、人間の主体的な在り方にも基礎づけるものであって、古代の形而上学に対するキリスト教の関係を典型的に示すものである。ここには古代の客観的存在論のキリスト教的主体的な受けとり直しがある。これが古代東方キリスト教思想の一つのモチーフをなすと予想しうる。(2)Oratio contra Arianosに含まれているアレイオスの思想もまた(1)で述べたような見地から扱われていると考えられる。このようにして基本的な方法論について視野が開けたわけである。3.アレイオスについては、アタナシオスが伝えられている『タレイア』、特にその序歌の精密な分析から、かれが神を智者と考え、かつ自らをも智者としていることが解明された。したがってアレイオスの立場は、智者の思想と伝統から明らかにされうる。智者とは、古代的な意味では、客観的な哲学的・思想的立場を主体的に担い行為する(特に教育の場で)人の謂であるから、2の(1)に述べたキリスト教の在り方と本来的に合致する。
