山本と北村とは昭和61年5月及6月に原資料コード化の作業用マニュアルを作成し、希望者を募って遂次集中的特訓を施こした上でアルバイト学生団を組織化した。7月の夏季休暇に入ると、総計25名の学生が活水女子大学の一室に会衆し、毎日5時間余OCR用紙にコードを記入する作業が続けられた。山本はこの作業の監督をし、北村は週単位で記入済の用紙を回収しそれをOCR読取装置から電算機に入力した。北村が独自に開発した「コード化作業のエラー自動修正プログラムにより一度電算機に入力された素データは学生単位にエラーを修正してパソコンの出力印刷紙上に戻された。各学生はこの出力結果を原資料と再照合した上でプリント用紙上に読取装置の判読不明部分やエラー部分を赤インクで修正した。このようにコード化作業とその結果の修正作業とを短時間間隔でフィードバックさせたことは、学生の作業効率を累しく高めたものと考えられる。以上の作業は9月中旬で完了し夏季休暇の終了とともに原資料全量を一応電算機に入力する事が出来た。その後は出力印刷紙上に赤字で修正された個所をパソコンのキーボードを通して電算機に入力された素データの修正作業が現時点(昭和62年3月)まで続行中である。キーボードによる修正作業は主に山本が担当し、北村は修正ずみのフロッピーディスクを長崎大学に持ち帰り自室のパソコンを通じて電算機に入力された素データを最終的に修正する作業に従事している。現時点ではデータ全量(18区分)のうち8区分の素データの修正を終えることが出来た。更に山本と北村とは昭和61年末から区単位で最終的修正済みの素データをパソコンのフロッピーディスクに出力して、それに解析ソフト(SL-MICRO)を使用して、部分的ながら多方面の解析を試行しだしている。この分析結果からはネパール都市カースト社会の興味深い諸断面が既に顔をのぞかせている。
