The frequency of normal square wave jerks(SWJ) by accomodative task was investigated in 10 normal subjects. The frequency of SWJ after the accomodative task was significantly higher than the frequency of SWJ after the accomodative task was significantly higher than the frequency of SWJ before the accomodative task but the duration and amplitude did not change. These results suggest that normal SWJ may be under the influence of cerebral cortex.A case was examined after head trauma and found to have long-lasting organic spasm of the near reflex lacking accomodative spasm. Persistent convergence and miosis completely disappeared after intravenous injections of benzodiazepine. Furtheromre, he was able to make a normal near reflex when the spasm disappeared. The effect of benzodiazepine suggests that the disturbance of the GABA ergic inhibitory system in the near reflex may be responsible for the occurrence of the spasm.Uhthoffs sign was investigated in the patient with the left homonymous hemianopsia in moltiple sclerosis. After the left homonymous hemianopsia disappeared, hot bath test was examined. When her temperature was arising, the left homonymous hemianopsia appeared. This phenomenon suggested central Uhthoff's sign. The legion of right optic radiation was diahnosed in CT scan and MRI.
