平成元年度からの実施が予定されている重点領域研究「先史モンゴロイド集団の拡散と適応戦略」について下記の準備研究をおこなった。1.研究組織の検討全体会議(9月3日)を開催し、予定される計画研究(A01〜A05)および総括班の研究分担項目、研究組織を審議・決定した。計画研究代表者会議(10月8日)を開催し、計画研究および総括班の昭和64年度重点領域研究計画調書の内容を調整・決定した。2.先史モンゴロイド人骨データベースアメリカ・アジア・オセアニア化石人類カタログ(英国自然史博物館1975年出版)に登録されている約200遺跡の全属性をコンピュータ・データベース化し、その多次元検索システムを構築した。3.ニュース「モンゴロイド」本重点領域研究の研究成果等の周知を目的とする広報誌「モンゴロイド」を定期的に発刊する準備作業をおこない、今年度のその創刊準備号を計画し、刊行した。
