インド・チベット仏教学研究に際して、チベット語文献とりわけチベット語仏典の一大叢書であるチベット大蔵経は必須の研究資料文献として利用されている。そのチベット大蔵経はナルタン版、デルゲ版、北京版等の諸版が開版され、ギャンツェ写本等の筆写本も伝えられているが、それら諸版・本の基礎は14世紀のチベットの大学匠プトン・リンチェンドゥプによって築かれた。プトンが大蔵経を組織するに至るまでには、チベットでは8世紀後半以降、盛衰はあるものの数百年に亘る訳経の歴史を重ねている。本研究の目的は、この訳経史のうち"ダルマの破仏"後の衰退期を経て、10世紀後半頃から始まった仏教復興期に焦点を絞り、東チベットのカム地方から、「dBus・gTsanの出家者」と称される人達の手によって根本有部系の律が中央に復活され、その後の仏教僧団形成・発展の礎になった仏教活動を、チベット大蔵経成立過程の視点から解明することにある。本研究の成果は次の通りである。従来、根本資料の欠如と後代の文献の錯綜した記述とが原因で、東チベット方面からの仏教復興の実態が不明であったが、本研究では現存するチベット史書類を主とするチベット文献の解読・整理を通して、「dBus・gTsanの出家者」をその運動の主要な推進者と見なし、彼等の歴史像の一端を明らかにした。その結果、「dBus・gTsanの出家者」は、根本有部律の師資相承を担って中央に戻り、各地に「律」に基づく僧団を創設したこと、そして彼等の弟子は僧団を中心とする仏教活動を発展させて、やがてチベット仏教が宗派分立時代に入る契機を作ったことが明らかになった。また、チベット大蔵経の「律部」のうち、注疏関係はこの復興期以後に初めて翻訳されたものがかなりあるが、それは戒律復活に傾注した当時のチベット仏教界の動向を反映することが分かった。

A large series of teaching and research literature is available in English and Chinese. The original version of the Chinese language was published in the 14th century. In the past, the fundamental data were incomplete, such as the complex description of the literature of the ten generations. The reasons for the lack of information were unclear. In this study, the existing history books were the main subjects. The documents were analyzed and collated. The main promoters of the movement were "dBus·gTsan's monks." One end of their history images was clearly identified. As a result,"dBus·gTsan's monks" are basically responsible for the teachers 'mutual commitment of the central government, the local "law" and the "law" foundation. They are the disciples of the "law" and the center of the "teaching activities." The relationship between the "Law Department" and the "Law Department" of the Great Revolution reflects the trend of the religious community at the beginning of the revival period.
