Multilayer neutron interferometer has advantages that is not only suitable for cold neutron, but also has a wide application to physical phenomenon relevant to neutron spin owing to controlling neutron spin directly by magnetic interferometer mirror. Our study goal by the Grant-in-aid is to develope the interferometer and apply to coherency study of cold neutron waves. The interferometer developed in 1989, however, did not have a good contrast of the interference pattern. The contrast, therefore, should be improved for the applications to physical phenomena, and investigations, trial productions and tests for it have been made in 1990. A good contrast has not attained as a result and we could not advance to experimental application. A considerable progress, however, have been made in both branches of the development of the multilayer neutron interferometer and it's applications to physicas follows :(1) The development of high resolution multilayer neutron monochromators, semi-transparent mirrors, reflection mirrors and magnetic multilayer mirrors have been made.(2) Position accuracy of the 4 mirror surfaces for the interferometer is required less than 0.2 micron to attain a good contrast. The methods for it have been found and the improvements are being made.(3) The temparature control has been made less than 0.02 degrees.(4) The air cushion bench has a good antivibrating performance.(5) Fabrication of Michelson type neutron interferometer and the upper limit measurement of neutron charge would be made as special theme for the multilayer interferometer. Delayed choice experiment, double Stern-Gelrach experiment and spin dependency experiment of the gravity are discussed concretely.
多层膜中子干涉仪不仅具有适用于冷中子的优点,而且由于利用磁干涉镜直接控制中子自旋,在与中子自旋有关的物理现象中有着广泛的应用。本课题的研究目标是利用国家助学金的资助,研制出一种用于冷中子波相干性研究的干涉仪。然而,在1989年开发的干涉仪,没有一个良好的干涉图案的对比度。因此,为了应用于物理现象,需要改进对比度,1990年进行了对比度的研究、试制和试验。结果没有达到良好的对比度,我们不能推进到实验应用。然而,在多层膜中子干涉仪的发展及其物理应用两个方面都取得了相当大的进展:(1)高分辨率多层膜中子单色器、半透镜、反射镜和磁性多层膜镜的研制。(2)干涉仪的4个镜面的位置精度要求小于0.2微米,以获得良好的对比度。已经找到了解决的方法,并正在进行改进。(3)温度控制在0.02度以下。(4)气垫工作台具有良好的抗振性能。(5)迈克耳孙型中子干涉仪的制作和中子电荷上限测量将作为多层膜干涉仪的专题。具体讨论了引力的延迟选择实验、双Stern-Gelrach实验和自旋相关实验。
