This paper deals with an investigation into the Physiology of excercise. The movement studied was that of Judo players when applying standing throw tactics.The information needed to examine three-dimensional locomotion was gathered by using a SN type physical Locomotion Pursuit Analyser(PLPA)devised by Nakano et al. and from electromyogram recordings of the upper extremities.The relationships between these two sources of data were examined with the help of a simultaneously recorded data of the movements. In this study the four tactics of Tachi-waza(standing throw), namely Ohsotogari, Deashibarai, Kouchigarin, Ohuchigari, were selected.The participants in the study were divided into two groups, trained judo players and untrained judo. players.It was observed from the data that trained judo players acted more rapidly, had smoother waist motion, used their muscles more rationally and always located the center of circular action within their body. By contrast the untrained judo players had poor waist motion and showed irrational muscle use.So far very little work has been carried out to study physiological electric impulses and movement of excercise on the same graph paper, but this study shows that it is possible and the results are useful.In the future it is hoped that the PLPA method can be improved in order to produce even clearer results.
