We have collected and classified many case studies on the settlements in soft ground under repeated and cyclic loading.We have outlined a mechanism for cyclic-induced settlement in soft ground.We have proposed a procedure for predicting earthquake-induced settlements. The applicability of the method has been calibrated with a computer program based on the proposed analytical procedure with numerical calculations using parameters suitable for actual field conditions.An analytical procedure together with a computer program has been proposed for the prediction of wave-induced settlements of seabed soil. It should also be noted that the analytical method can be applied to the estimation of the stability of the seabed under wave loading.We have proposed a method for one-dimensional consolidation settlement analysis with change of groundwater level. The calculated results of two numerical methods fits well with the experimental results in Saga-Shiraishi and Okazaki Plains.
