保育形態の異なる幼児園2園において、メインストリ-ミング(統合保育)を実効あるものとする方法の検討を行った。A園は、障害児の自発的活動を保育者が適時、側面的に援助し、自発的、自己制御的な行動の拡大・変容、および他児との活動の共有を図る形態・方針をとる。一方、B園は障害児の機能レベルによって、障害児小集団保育、学級内保育の形態をとり、さらに自発的活動のコ-ナ-保育、低年齢児との小集団保育、個別抽出指導などの多様な形態を設ける。この多様な形態の中で、個々の実態の向上を図る。この2園における対象児とその相互交渉過程の変容、そして保育の検討により、次の点が見出された。1.両園のどの対象児も発達的に変容した。両園の対象児ともに、障害をもたぬ子との間の相互交渉は増加した。が、変容の諸相は異なる。2.相互交渉に関わる要因に、(1)障害児側の他児への働きかけ、(2)健常児の障害児への働きかけ、(3)保育者の意識・介入方法が想定された。また、(1)には他児の働きかけへの応じ方も含まれる。3.相互交渉について、A園では自然な相互交渉を保育者がどう意識し、必要時の介入や強化をどう果たすかが要点であり、この前提には、自発度に富む保育場面設定、保育者間の共通認識の高め合い(保育観、子どもの実態、介入の条件に関して)が指摘できる。4.B園では、子どもの実態とその時期の保育課題により、いかに適切な保育形態を設け、意図的な介入、保育を果たすかが要点であり、前提には子どもの実態に合った集団編成と内容構成、健常児への働きかけ、保育者の意識と観察眼、保育技術の練成が指摘できる。いずれにせよ、保育内容・方法により統合の成果も左右されるものの、一方で保育者の介入に関する要因の重要性が示唆され、この検討が次の課題となった。
