研究初年度である平成2年度には、幕府享保改革に関する文献を集めて研究史の整理を行うこととともに、主に畿内およびその周辺幕領の関係史料の調査・収集を行ったが、本年度には、そのあとをうけて、関係文献を補足収集するとともに、美作・備中・備後・豊後を中心に主に中国・四国・九州地方の幕領関係史料の収集につとめた。また、国立公文書館(内閣文庫)・国会図書館・国立史料館へも足を運び、さらに余勢をかって、北陸・東海・関東・東北地方の幕領所在地の一部へも調査に赴いて、関係史料を収集した。史料収集は順調に進み、学界未紹介の貴重な関係史料も多く収集しえた。特に、国立公文書館所蔵の『松平左近将監風説集』や国会図書館所蔵の『楫焼舟』などは、享保改革末期の勝手掛老中松平乗邑ー勘定奉行神尾春央ラインによる年貢増徴路線に批判的な勢力の存在を如実に物語るものであり、改革を幕閣内部の路線の対抗も視野に入れてダイナミックに捉えることを可能にするものである。また、年貢増徴政策に抗する各地の幕領民衆の抵抗=百姓一揆の関係史料も数多く収集することができ、民衆の例に視座をおいた形で享保改革を捉えなおすことが可能になってきている。さらに、従来研究が手薄であった改革末期における幕府の政策内容を具体的に看取しうる多くの史料も収集しえている。そうした調査・研究の成果の一部は、「延享二年正月幕府勘定所における神尾春央の演説について」と題して発表したが、さらに今後東国幕領の関係史料の収集を精力的に行って史料を補充し、全国的視野に立って、研究成果を『転換期の幕府と民衆一勘定奉行神尾春央とその時代ー』と題する一書にまとめて公刊する予定である。
