项目摘要

今日まで、旧石器時代の研究は石器を中心的対象として進められてきた。骨器はその陰となって本格的に研究が展開されてきたとはいえず、わけても打製の骨器は数の少なさも影響して、研究の対象とはなりにくかった。しかし、旧石器時代の社会の動態、とくに動物の狩猟・解体のあり方を復原するには骨資料の研究が不可欠である。また、解体した動物の骨資料から制作される骨器を分析することによって、解体のあり方もある程度見きわめることができる。本研究では、少ないながらも骨器研究の伝統のあるヨ-ロッパ中部地域を対象とし、基礎的な打製骨器資料の集成をおこない、これによって日本ではまだ著しく立ち遅れている旧石器時代の骨器の完成品、剥片をはじめとする骨器製作復原研究のための比較資料を整備することを目指した。具体的には、1.研究代表者が中部ヨ-ロッパにおいて実測してきた多数の打製骨器の実測図のトレ-スをおこない集成図化をはかった。あわせて文献に掲載されている打製骨器の図化も実施した。2.中部ヨ-ロッパ特にドイツ語圏における骨器の研究状況を1920年代から1980年代まで整理した。その結果、当該地域における近年の骨器および骨資料の基礎的研究は、アメリカ合衆国における研究のインパクトによる部分はあるものの、今日議論されている基礎的な問題の主要部分はドイツ語圏においては、すでに1930年代に集中的に検討されて成果があげられていたことをあきらかにできた。3.打製骨器の集成的研究の新知見としては、前期・中期旧石器時代においては、素材が骨であろうとも、石の場合と基本的に同様な製作方法をとりハンドアックス、クリ-ヴァ-、スクレイパ-などの完成形態が実現されていることを明らかにできた。これは今日に至るまで未確立であるところの骨器、とくに打製骨器の用語名称法に重大な示唆を与えるものである。
