競技パフォ-マンスを決定する重要な要因の一つである特持的注意能力について、・文献的研究、・実験的検証の二つの側面から検討を行った。1.文献的研究;注意能力に関する類似概念を実験パラダイムを考える上でどのように分類されるかについて調べた結果、精神集中、ビジランス、選択的注意、探索、賦活、構え(イメ-ジ)の六つの意味に区別された。研究の流れとしては、情報処理の側面からパフォ-マンスをもとに認知モデルの構築を目指したもの、SPL等の自律神経系の反応をもとに定位反射の研究から慣れの機序からの注意のメカニズムを見たもの、脳波や事象関連電位等の中枢の生理学的変化から注意の心理活動を見たもの、に分類された。2.実験的検証;実験では持続的注意能力を賦活と構えの二つの概念に基づき以下の実験を行った。熟練者と未熟練者の運動イメ-ジ想起時の生理的変化について;100m走運動イメ-ジ想起時と実際に走った時の心拍数を従属変数として熟練者と未熟練者とを比較した結果、熟練者の方に運動イメ-ジ中に実際走ったと同じ酸素負債的な高い心拍数の持続がみられ運動イメ-ジの想起といった持続的注意能力と運動パフォマンスの優劣との関連が見られた。持続的注意能力と事象関連電位(CNV);随伴性陰性変動(CNV)を従属変数として一定時間の運動イメ-ジを持続させる課題を用いた。イメ-ジを持続できた場合と持続できなかった場合では、前頭部、側頭部、頭頂部においてCNVの違いがみられ、後者のCNVが有意に低かった。持続的注意能力をCNVで検証できることが明らかにされた。予備刺激反応時間とCNV;予備刺激を持つ単純反応時間課題で反応時間とCNVの構成成分から賦活、構えの注意構成要素との関連を見た結果、CNVの早期成分が注意能力と密接な関連があり、反応時間が最も短く、また、注意能力の低下をもたらす心理的不応期の存在が示された。
