国立国語研究所では昭和25年度と昭和46年度の2度にわたって文部省科学研究費の交付を受け,山形県鶴岡市において地域社会における言語生活の実態調査を行った。それにより,戦後四半世紀間の急激な社会変化の中で方言が共通語化していく過程について,その実態や社会的な要因を明らかにした。本研究ではこれらの成果を受け継ぎ,鶴岡市において20年間隔の第3次調査を実施するとともに,現代社会のもつ言語生活上のさまざまな問題点をあらたに取り上げ,言語変化を将来に向けて経年的に調査記述していくための確実な基礎構築を目的とする。上記目的に添って,今年度は以下に示す調査研究を実施した。1.研究計画,調査内容に関する研究会の開催全体会議,班別会議を行い,調査の項目,対象などの細目を検討するとともに,分析方法,報告書の原稿執筆等についても検討した。2.場面調査の実施昨年度実施した第3次継続調査で得られた情報に厚みを増すため,音韻・語彙・文法の調査項目に関して,場面性,文脈性を付与した内容の検証・補完調査を実施した。3.方言記述調査の実施共通語化の過程を分析する基礎資料として,生粋の鶴岡弁話者に対して,音韻・語彙・文法などの諸側面から記述調査を行った。4.第3次継続調査の中間結果報告会の開催鶴岡市役所の協力を得て,市立図書館において中間結果の報告会を行った。5.調査結果の整理・集計,および報告書刊行の準備調査結果の整理を行い,集計・分析を進めた。報告書刊行は国立国語研究所の費用で平成6年度に行う予定である。
