不確定さを伴う認知的課題場面における課題解決様式の重要な個人差のひとつ(熟慮性・衝動性)について、その柔軟性とメタ認知的過程を含めた情動・動機づけの規定因を明らかにすべく以下のような実験的研究を行った。対象者は小学校4年生児童132(男61,女71)名について次の2セッションの実験を行った。まず、個々の子どもの認知スタイルを同定するために標準的な測定用具(Matching Familiar Figures Test)を通常通り大人のテスタ-が個別的に行った。また、項目の前半、中頃、終了直後の3回、メタ認知的過程を調べるための面接調査を行った。この第1セッションの終了後2〜3週間してから、これらのテストの手続きをコンピュ-タが制御する(コンピュ-タ制御選択反応テストシステム)を個別的に実施した。このテスト装置は対象児の小学校の1室に設置され、子どもの情動的な反応をとらえるために、テスト時の表情や身振りをビデオカメラにより録画した。なおこの第2セッションでは被験者を無作為に選択反応変化群と無変化群に分け、次の手続きの下に行った。事前に2回の練習試行を経て10試行からなるが、これはさらに3ステ-ジに分かれる。最初の3試行はベ-スラインであり、通常のMatching Familiar Figures Testの平行項目がディスプレ-上に提示され、タッチスクリ-ンを介して反応するが、時間制限はない。次の5試行はテスト試行で両群とも第1セッションでの衝動タイプの平均反応時間7秒間提示される。残りの2試行は、変化群では熟慮タイプの平均反応時間16秒間提示されるが、無変化群は7秒のままである。さらに毎試行、動機づけやメタ認知的過程をとらえるために、自己の反応に対する確信度、正答や速答への動機のつよさ、提示時間の評価について調べ、加えてそれぞれの反応時間も記録した。この2つのセッションの間での子ども反応の変化は大きくかなりの柔軟性を示すことが分った。詳細はさらに分析中である。
