Dynamic Structures of Organic Crystals

Dynamic structural transformations and molecular motion in organic crystals were intensively investigated using the X-ray diffraction methods, NMR studies, thermodynamic studies, dielectric relaxation studies, Raman spectroscopy, and so on. A total of 20 investigators participated in this project.The project had five different groups focusing on the following areas.(1)Dynamic process of the solid state reactions : Racemic to chiral conversion in cobaloxime crystals (Ohashi), Direct observation of solid-state photodimerization (Kashino), Solid-state polymerization by radiation (Kai), Solid-state photoreactions(Saigo), New X-ray diffractometer for rapid data correction(Iwasaki)(2)Molecular recognition in inclusion crystals : Thermodynaic studies(Matsuo), Crystal structures of inclusion compounds(Fujiwara)(3)Structural changes in phase transitions of organic compounds : Dynamic structures of halogen bridged metal complexes (Toriumi), Phase transitions of metal complexes(Ohba), Adducts of Lead halide(Miyamae), Mechanical reactions(Maeda), Thermal rearrangement in organic crystals (Iwasaki)Co-operative dynamics in organic crystals : Polymorphism of synthetic lipids (Okuyama), Raman spectroscopic studies(Ishii), NMR studies (Miyazima), MD simulation (Matsui), Electron-charge densities(Tanaka)Dynamic behavior in the hydrogen-bonding : Proton dynamics (Sugawara), Dynamics of hydrogen-bonding (Takeda), Molecular motion in crystals(Imashiro)
