A Novel powder metullugical fabrication of a Functionaly Gradient Material was proposed by our laboratory of miyagi national college of technology.The Functionaly Gradient Materials of SUS316L/3Y-PSZ without a visible clack-like discontinuity throughout an overall cross-section were produced by a combining process with a powder technological filter effect and a compound effect of metal/ceramics composite particles.Atomized SUS316L powder of mean particle diameter in 5mum and 3Y-PSZ of mean particle diameter in 0.3mum were used raw material powders. Vibrations of various frequency were made an addition to respective powder beds (a 10 steps stratum) of metal and ceramics and the composite particles of different coating thickness. After that the powder beds were sintered by hot press in high purity Ar gas.The crack-like discontinuity during cooling from sintering temperature and in a thermal loading tests and a thermal shock test could not been discernible in the sintered compacts of the Functionaly Gradient Material.
