本年度に研究を行った結果,次のようなことが知見として得られた.まず,村落空間の構造を民俗学における把握の1基本型である「ムラ・ノラ・ハラ」モデルと,文化人類学において指摘された「中心・周縁」モデルとの関係を考察し,さらに伝説に対する構造分析の結果を考慮することで,村落における心理的な空間把握モデルを仮定することができた.次に,研究対象地域を滋賀県北西部(湖北地方)および兵庫県西南部(播磨地方)として事例研究を行った.この時,伝説に語られる場所やものの村落内での分布状況に着目した.結果として,村落の構造上,等質な空間と考えられてきたムラ・ノラ・ハラの中にも,不連続で異質な部分が等質な空間を寸断する形として内包されていることがわかった.さらにそれらが境界性を有しているものであることがわかった.以上のことから村落のコスモロジーを実在空間と心理的空間の2様の関係から把握することができた.また,異質なものとして認知された地物が村落の中で特定の境界を示すランドマークであり,村落の住民と境界を示すランドマークとの心理的な関わり方を定性的に把握することができた.さらに伝説が集中的に語られる場所は,村落の歴史上極めて重要な境界を示すものであることがわかった.特に,隣接する村落ないしは(藩制村でいう)郷との関係の深さ,敷延すれば地域内の村落間,字間の心理的な連携の深さを示す可能性があると推察された.一方,伝説に語られる地物は地形的な変化の端緒に位置する場合が相当数あることがわかった.このことから,村落の住民から見た景観の重要性を知るための情報源としても伝説などの民俗情報を位置づけることの有意性を示した.最後に,データベース化を図るに当たり,伝説に語られる(イメージの集中する)要素を地形別・形態別に整理することを検討した.
