1 The Historiographical Institute has been developing the data base system for Japanese historical materials (SHIPS). The purpose of the project is to improve SHIPS to be adapted to new environment of computer, namely multimedia, open system and personal computing.2 Contents of improvement of SHIPS are as follows ;(1) The data bases for historical documents was linked to picture data base on optical disk system and to 16mm microfilm library on a digital image printer.(2) Our home page for WWW (HTTP : //www.hi.u-tokyo.ac.jp) was opened and experimentally linked to anonymousFTP server (shipsnw.hi.u-tokyo.ac.jp) for historical picture and text data.(3) Some new data base systems were developed.3 As the results of the project. we have following data base systems now ;(1) Inventory data base linked to picture dataData base for Japanese historical documents(2) Inventory data base linked to 16mm microfilm libraryData base for Japanese historical documents (the Documents of Shimazu House)(3) Full text data base linked to 16mm microfilm libraryData base for chronological materials of Meiji Restoration(4)Full text data baseData base for chronological table of ancient and medieval JapanData base for diaries of ancient Japan(5) Index data base for persons and official postsData base for diaries of medieval JapanData base for Dai-nihon Shiryo (Chronological Source-books of Japanese History)

1史学研究所一直在开发日本史料(船)的数据库系统。该项目的目的是改进船舶以适应计算机新环境，即多媒体、开放系统和个人计算机。2船舶改进的内容如下；(1)将历史文献数据库链接到光盘系统上的图片数据库和数字图像打印机上的16 mm缩微胶片库。(2)我们的WWW主页(http：//www.hi.u-tokyo.ac.jp)已经打开，并试验性地连接到历史图文数据的匿名FTP服务器(Shippnw.hi.u-tokyo.ac.jp)。(3)作为项目的成果，开发了一些新的数据库系统。我们目前拥有以下数据库系统：(1)与图片数据库链接的库存数据库日本历史文献数据库(2)与16 mm缩微胶片图书馆链接的库存数据库日本历史文献数据库(岛津文献)(3)与16 mm缩微胶片图书馆链接的全文数据库(3)与16 mm缩微胶片图书馆链接的全文数据库明治维新年表数据库(4)日本古代和中世纪年表数据库日本古代日记簿数据库(5)人物和官方日记簿索引数据库日本中世纪日记数据库大日本史书数据库
