基礎的な研究対象とした、19世紀フランスのサロン絵画(1831年から1880年まで)における芸術家像の調査は完了した。サロンの目録から抽出した作例の体系的な分析により、19世紀に制作された芸術家を主題とする絵画作品の諸傾向が明らかになり、本研究の対象とした同時代の画家たちの集団肖像画の有する革新性が理解された。ファンタン=ラトゥールの集団肖像画に関しては《ドラクロワ礼賛》(1864)の調査研究が終了し、新資料を提示しながら造形性と主題の扱い方の両面から作品の特質を浮き彫りにできた(1994年2月5日、美術史学会東支部例会にて「ファンタン=ラトゥール作《ドラクロワ礼讃》再考」の題で口頭発表を行った。)また、同じ画家の《乾杯(真実礼讃)》(1865)についても、サロン評の網羅的な調査が完了したので、作品の受容という側面から遅からず研究成果をまとめたい。「芸術家の生活情景」を描いたルノアールの《アントニ-小母さんの宿屋》(1866)は、社会史的、図像的な資料をかなり収集できたので、ボヘミアン生活という観点からさらに分析を深めていきたい。「アトリエの表象」をテーマにしたバジ-ルの《ラ・コンダミン街のアトリエ》(1870)とファンタン=ラトゥールの《バティニョルのアトリエ》(1870)》の調査研究も進展した。前者に関しては、アトリエ内部の表象の特異性及び画中画の問題が浮かび上がり、その研究成果を論文にまとめたが、その続編となる後者に関する論文も現在準備中である。
