天海による東照宮祭祀について、従来も他流の神道説の学習、影響、相互の交渉の痕跡が指摘されていた。しかしながら、その具体相については典籍の貸借という事実の指摘にとどまり、教説自体の内容分析については未開拓の分野として残されていた。今年度はそこに注目し家康神格化の教説(山王-実神道説)を吉田神道、両部神道のそれとの関係から検討した。まず吉田神道との関係については、神代紀解釈に焦点をあてた。西教寺正教蔵や叡山・日光両天海増蔵には吉田兼石の神代記講説の開書が残されている、三書の奥書のうち正教蔵のそれには、同書の伝来に関する興味深い事実が見られる。即ち、常陸月山寺を拠点とし天海に師事した恵賢が兼石説の開書を作成し天海周辺に伝えたというのである。兼石説開書の内容には、吉田神道の要である世界観とそれに基づく言語観が見られた。それは天海の家康祭祀の中にも受容されており、天海が吉田神道説の周縁で神道説を形成したことが窺える。次に両部神道との関係については、神祇潅頂に注目した。神祇潅頂は主に密教寺院で行われた儀式で、陀羅尼を和歌に習合させる、始源への志向とそれを生殖に関わらせる、等の教義をもつ。天海の周辺には神祇潅頂を相伝した学僧が確認できると共に、天海自身の教説の中にも、神祇潅頂の影響を想定せずには理解できない記述が存在し、ここから天海には教説・人脈の両面での両部神道の受容が認められる。従来家康神格化の教説については、同時代の証言からその無根拠性が言われてきた、それに対し私は、中世天台神道の伝説継承を指摘してきたが、今年はそれに加え他流の神道由来の要素を発見した、今後の実証的検討に、この発見を生かしていきたい。
