本研究は、近年加耶地域を中心に資料の増加が著しい朝鮮三国時代甲冑を集成し、日本の古墳時代甲冑との系譜関係を検討することにより、当時の日本と朝鮮半島の交流の一端を明らかにすることを目的として行った。その結果、朝鮮三国時代の甲冑は現在までに80基余りの墳墓から出土していることが確認されたが、そのうちの70基程度は加耶地域、10基は新羅地域の例であり、百済、高句麗地域では依然として資料に恵まれない実状が明きらかとなった。そうした資料的制約のため甲冑の系譜をより広い空間と時間の中に位置づける作業は今後の課題として残されることになったが、とくに日本の古墳時代と関係が深い朝鮮半島南部の状況については大略次のような知見を得ることができた。第一に、縦矧板系統の短甲は加耶地域の中でも洛東江河口に集中的に分布すること、第二に、日本の5世紀代甲冑と同形式のものは洛東江河口の釜山地域および洛東江西岸の陜川、高霊を中心として地域に客体的に存在する、ということである。この第一点からは、日本の4世紀代に知られる縦矧板系統の短甲が洛東江河口域の短甲と直接の系譜関係をもつ可能性が高いこと、また第二点からは、日本出土品と同形式の甲冑が日本製品である可能性が高いとみられるものの、それは朝鮮半島南部の同時代甲冑の中では数少ない存在であり、そのことを倭による任那経営と結びつける論説は成り立ち得ないであろうことが考えられた今後さらなる資料の増加をまって、武器や馬具などを含めた武装全体の組み合わせを明らかにし、日本の古墳時代資料との比較検討を進めていく必要があるが、ひとまず以上の研究成果については取りまとめ、学会誌等への発表を計画しているところである。
