本研究は、演劇における創作プロセスに着目し、その為の空間のネットワーキングについて、ある地方都市圏における演劇公演回数の分析と実際の劇団に対する参与調査から、各段階において必要となる空間の相互関連を把握しようとしたものであり、その結果は次のようであった。(1)創作主体と空間の関係から、稽古場中心型(空間をあくまで演劇の稽古の場としてだけ使用)、製作拠点型(稽古の場としてだけでなく、劇団の製作拠点としての機能を保持)、稽古場公演型(演劇の創作から公演までの一貫した創作プロセスを完結)、稽古場非特定型(稽古場を所有せず、コミュニティーセンターなどを利用)に大別できることを知った。(2)各劇団は、10数名によって稽古を展開し、40〜50m^2程度を場当たりの面積として使用していた。それぞれにおいて、劇団員1人当たりの稽古場の面積は3.0〜4.7m^2/人程度となっており、稽古のためにはこの程度の面積が必要であるといえる。(3)以下に示すように各類型別に要求される建築計画上の与件を整理した。稽古場中心型では、稽古を行う場として所作のための空間性能(床、壁面の鏡、天井高、遮音)、時間的融通性(特に夜間)、劇団員が集合しやすい交通便利性、劇団員が連体感を醸成できる空間の質(ミーティング、談笑)が求められる。製作拠点型では、稽古場中心型に必要となる与件に加えて、製作業務(マスコミ連絡、DM発送等)、舞台美術の製作の場、所有設備(照明、各種器材、小道具、衣装)などの保管、団員間の語りあえる場、他地域の劇団が地方公演をする場合のバックアップ施設としての機能が必要となる。稽古場公演型では、製作拠点型の機能に加えて、公演場所としての機能観客を収容しうる広さと設備(換気、便所等)、観客のアクセシビリティ、演目の自由度(火、水等使用可、照明音響の為の整備と十分な電源)、打ち上げの場所としての機能が重要となる。
