本研究は、コンサートホールのソフト提供者としてのプロのオ-ケストラを支援するために施設が包含すべき機能を把握しようとしたものであり、成果は以下のとおりであった。1.オ-ケストラ23楽団のうち、専用の練習施設を有しているものは7楽団(1995年9月現在)存在するが、そのうち協力の得られた4楽団の施設における調査によれば、最も大きな面積が割かれているのが合奏室で、その平均面積比は27.3%(実面積は1例を除き497〜355m^2)であった。2.施設訪問調査を通じて、練習室は8部屋300m^2〜6部屋240m^2程度必要とされていることを知った。しかし同時に、これら練習施設の使用状況は、楽団員の自宅練習や自前での練習場借用など施設外の状況に大きく影響され、この部分の把握の重要性を確認した。3.Sフィル楽団員のフェイスシートと練習活動空間を調査分析した結果、演奏パートによって練習室の保有率は、弦パート50.0%、木管パート71.4%、金管パート33.3%と大きく異なっている。しかも音が比較的大きく、防音が欠かせない金管での防音練習率保有率は14,3%とさらに低くなる状況にあることを把握した。4.今回の定期演奏会1カ月前の練習活動状況の調査では、本格的な練習が行われるのは、公演前2週間前後で(楽団員の経験、定期演奏会の指揮者・曲目によっても異なる)、練習時間は弦パートでは6:00〜24:00とかなりの幅を持って行われているものの金管パートでは10:00〜21:00までと時間帯が限られていることがわかった。5.調査したケースでは、全体練習以外に楽団員が個別に行う練習活動のピークは定期演奏会の4日前の16時から19時の間にあたっている。この時間帯の練習率に3.4.で把握した各パート毎の状況を勘案した係数を掛け合わせて、3管編成オ-ケストラのピーク時における必要練習室数を算出した。今回のケースでは、22室となった(算定式略)。
